Case Detail

Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America v. Medows
On May 27, 2003, the U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear a challenge to a Florida law that seeks to impose price controls on pharmaceuticals sold to Medicaid recipients in the State. The decision was a setback for WLF, which filed a brief on January 8, 2003, urging that review be granted. WLF argued that the Florida statute is invalid because it conflicts with federal Medicaid law. WLF also argued that the statute will result in substandard care for the State's poorest citizens, because it will result in their being denied access to essential drugs that the State has deemed too expensive.
Case Status:
Review denied.
